Hardwood flooring

Very upset with salesperson, Vandana and manager, Joe. Bought a very expensive hardwood. Was told it was in stock. Bought one box to take home and had other 33 boxes delivered at a charge. When we received our order it was the incorrect batch. When we called to tell them the problem they told us that was what we ordered and, by the way, they did not have enough of the original mill run, only 29 boxes. We agreed to switch out the 29 boxes of the original batch we wanted and kept 4 boxes of the different mill run they sent us. The kicker is that we had to pay for the delivery AGAIN to have the correct merchandise delivered. Spoke to Joe, apparently the manager, told him the entire story, was told that it was our fault that we picked up one box first and had the rest delivered the next day. He would not credit us the second delivery charge. Am very upset that a company such as Brampton has zero customer service. Buyer beware, they are great when you are buying but once you have bought you are on your own even if it is their fault.
We were forced to pay a second delivery charge because they sent the wrong product the first time.

Hi Rosemary,

As was explained to you, the reason that the second delivery was required was simply confusion due to the natural lightening processes inherent in certain wood species. The sucupira hardwood you bought is a beautiful Brazilian hardwood product. The nature of sucupira wood will cause it to "amber" or grow lighter in colour with the passage of time. To avoid confusion with customers, we have two representative samples of sucupira wood in our showroom, an older lighter sample showing the wood after it has "ambered" and a newer sample which is still slightly darker. Once you received your product you were concerned that the hue was not matching your needs and we therefore agreed to provide replacement sucupira hardwood from an older batch so you would not need to wait for the natural "ambering" process to run its course. There were no issues with quality or mistakes on our part, the wood was correct and the change in batches was at your request. Thus, as the change was not our fault the cost of delivery of the replacement batch was not our responsibility. Your husband acknowledged this when he came to pay for delivery at our showroom. Notwithstanding, in the interest of good faith customer relations our manager Joe had offered to split the cost of shipping the replacement batch. We felt that it was a reasonable way to try and resolve your concern, but you did not accept. Please feel free to contact us should you wish to discuss. We have been in business nearly 30 years and service about 30,000 customers a year from our various locations, and pride ourselves on our excellent customer service.

Hardwood floor & Stone wall

I shopped around ALOT looking for the RIGHT engineered hardwood & stone wall products for my basement project and found GREAT selection at Brampton Hardwood. The products were a FAIR price but what made the difference was the AWESOME service from LINA at the Toronto location. I had really tight deadlines with my contractor and she ensured both products were delivered on-time, and everything was perfect, Thank you Lina !!!!

Laminate flooring

Brampton Hardwood was one of our stops while shopping for laminate flooring, we visited the Bramalea store and had absolutely no issues. Sales staff were friendly and helpful, answered any questions we had, no pressure to buy. We left and went to a few other places, compared, and went back to Brampton Hardwood to make our purchase- 1000sq of laminate flooring. Overall a good experience.

dinning room

Bought hardwood flooring from this place . Took it home and opened 2 of the 10 boxes. It was full of small bug holes. Returned it right away within 1 hour. Only way they would take back there defective product was if I paid 15 percent restocking. BIG RIP OFFS. They are fine if it goes well but if it doesn't your screwed. Will go out of my way to cost them sales with friends family or any one buying floor.

We are quite surprised that you feel this way John. We appreciate your business and our sales staff remembers you. After looking at a variety of products at various price points, you selected our Maple Cherry Mill Run. "Mill run" grade solid wood floors are not defective, they are simply value priced products that contain more knots, holes, cracks, etc. than the more expensive grades. In fact, the flooring you bought was a direct match for the showroom sample board you chose from, complete with the small holes and knots you refer to. We have numerous pictures available of the actual sample board that clearly show this, but unfortunately HomeStars does not permit photos to be added to this reply. After getting the flooring home you decided that it did not suit your needs and decided to return it. As previously mentioned, we would be pleased to apply the value of the restocking admin fee to another one of our quality floors.

Hardwood Flooring

Used Brampton flooring for the first time. I visited their Toronto store which looks as they have just moved in. There was no one in the front of store. There was a woman in the back warehouse named Lina which asked me if I needed any help. She was amazing, she answered all my questions. She contacted me the next day that she could get the flooring I needed. I ordered thru the phone and went the next day to pay. Again great job. The only negative about Brampton flooring was that there was not enough staff on the floor. I visited the store 2 times and there was only 2 ppl working. This woman does everything. She is a keeper.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Hire more staff. Felt sorry for the woman running around and dealing with everyone. It was a zoo that day.

Hi Nick. Thank you from all of us at Brampton Hardwood Floors for your top rating and 10-star score. Thanks also for your business new location located at 36 Gordon Mackay Road in Toronto, at the junction of Highways 400 & 401 (right beside the Leon's store). This new store is much larger than our previous Caledonia Road location, so with the vast amount of extra space it may seem like the existing staff is a little thin. We are currently looking for some sales help for store manager Lina and her team, but in the meantime please rest assured that they will always work hard to provide excellent customer service to our customers.

New Floor

My first floor from Brampton Hardwood was a cork floor and my recent floor was a lovely laminate for my basement. Both floors I purchased from Lina, she is the greatest, she not only knows her floors, she knows colour, quality, maintenance, underpadding, measurements, you name it, she gives the best service you could ask for and she has a great sense of humour as well. After buying from Lina I would never go anywhere else, she offers the expertise you dream of in a specialty store and we are very happy with both floors.

Hardwood Flooring

THEIR RESPONSE BELOW IS NOT THE TRUTH AT ALL AND NO MONEY WAS REFUNDED. BEWARE!!! - PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING - I have been involved in the construction industry for over 25 years and Brampton Hardwood Flooring has to be the most unethical trade I have ever dealt with. I purchased over 2,300 sf of walnut hardwood flooring from Brampton Hardwood Flooring and please read the below 2 major issues/problems I had that hopefully will keep you away:
1)The samples and products in the showroom will not be the same as what is delivered to your home. In my case, the quality and lengths were not to what Vandana and John sold me and what I saw in the showroom. I have to stress here that the quality (joints, milling, finish, consistency) of their product is inferior to what you can get at other stores.
2)They also push you to use their installers for two reasons. One so the installers do not reject the material delivered and two so they can take cash under the table from their installers. My installer Steve admitted to handing cash back to Vandana/Brampton Hardwood Flooring.
I spend many many hour trying to resolve these issues with Brampton Hardwood Flooring with no result. I guess their policy of paying 100% of the bill before delivery works very well for them.
I will be adding pictures to this post so please stay tuned.
I also agree with other posts that they should probably be investigated for unprofessional, unethical practices.
Thanks for reading.

Company Response

Hi Brian. Sorry that it took us a while to look into your concerns. The slight delay was due to the long 2-year lapse of time since your purchase. We had not heard from you and therefore assumed that everything had been resolved to your complete satisfaction. You will recall that you came to see us 2-years ago seeking some walnut flooring. You were shopping on price point due to budget constraints and we therefore provided you many less expensive options to choose from. You ultimately selected a country grade walnut floor from one of our showroom samples. Country grade has more grain and closed knots than the more expensive premium grade walnut. Average board lengths are also slightly shorter, although due to the relatively smaller heights of walnut trees, even in premium grade walnut flooring the board lengths average only 3-4 feet maximum. You indicated that you did not mind and chose the lower grade as it was approximately 40% cheaper. Your concerns arose after commencing installation because when you tried to get the equal of a premium product at the lower price point. The flooring we provided was an exact match to our showroom sample and of excellent quality. However, when your contractor (we are only a retailer and do not install floors) was installing the flooring you had him pick through the material to only use the longer boards with less grain and closed knots. This obviously resulted in a shortage of material and surplus that you then wanted to return to us. Notwithstanding that we had fully completed our end of the bargain and were under no obligation to do so, as a good faith gesture to ensure a positive customer experience we offered to take back all of the flooring that you had improperly rejected and even waive our restocking fee. We did not hear back from you and therefore assumed at the time that you were satisfied, and we are therefore quite puzzled as to why you would now choose to leave this negative feedback so long after the fact. In any event, we hope that over the last couple of years you have enjoyed the beautiful walnut flooring you purchased from Brampton Hardwood Floors.

new laminate floors - 2 levels

Lina from the Gordon Mackay location is the best! After I had a negative experience at a different store, Lina redeemed what customer service is about. Lina was straightforward and great to deal with and very knowledgeable.

Thanks Lina!

Company Response

We are pleased that you visited our new location at 36 Gordon Mackay Road in Toronto. After many years of excellent customer service by Lina and the rest of us at our Caledonia location, we recently moved to a much bigger building at the junction of Highways 400 & 401 (right beside the Leon's store) to better serve our growing clientele. Lina remembers you well and was keenly aware of the many poor customer experiences from our competitors. We get many clients coming to us from other hardwood flooring stores after being turned off by their indifferent attitudes, high pressure sales tactics and lower quality products at higher prices. All such customers are well taken care of and fully satisfied by the time they leave our stores. Thanks from all of us for your excellent rating and top score.
