The Art Of Renovation

Mark did a full renovation on my first floor which included removal of interior walls, installation of a load support beam, refacing of a fireplace, flooring, kitchen, pot lights, miscellaneous electrical, construction of new entrance vestibule and a new 2-piece bathroom. Along the way, he was able to repair a 2nd floor joist at minimal extra cost to me and then also stayed beyond the finish date of the original renovation to re-do my second floor bathroom when we found that the floor underneath the bathtub was rotted through. I recommend The Art of Renovation for any home renovation project you are considering.

As a senior you wonder if somebody is going to take your money and run! Well Mark is a most honourable gentleman. We gave the deposit and he confirmed the starting date. Not a minute late for the starting the work. The team of professionals worker were there. The initial tear-out of the old Bathroom was more than what they or I expected. They had to remove everything including every piece of old drywall even from the ceiling. Needless to state, a very dirty job, but remarkably there was no dust or debris in the rest of our CONDO. They had put up an airtight seal around the door, so that all material was brought in through the back patio door. No mess inside our other rooms. That was a great, and it just got better from there.

The workmanship and details were well thought out, as I mentioned they were not planning on ripping everything out even the door to the bathroom had to be widen from 24 inches to 36 inches, so a lot of cutting, moving and relocating electrical wiring, vents, in-floor heating as well. Along with the reconstruction needed to be accomplished was done within the dates specified. If you saw the old bathroom with a 7 foot ceiling, poor lighting, low sink with a small cabinet, bathtub, etc. you would never believe it was possible for Mark to make such a wonderful change.

Now the new sink cabinet is high with pull out draws giving us a lot of space, yes he was even able to put a second cabinet beside our modern walk in shower to store towels! We don't have to have them in another linen cabinet elsewhere in the condo!

The new fold down seat in the shower is fantastic which can be lowered easily to sit on, or lifted up out of the way. Mark installed a built in the wall Stainless Steel NOCK to hold shampoo/conditioner/soap, and it is soon modern looking and extremely practical and useful. We no longer have to bend down to reach the items or hit our heads on the dam hanging holders! Nice with clean lines. The new controls for the shower are so wonderful and easy to adjust the temperature, Hans Groeher top end product at the right height as well. We no longer have to bend down to turn on the water or get sprayed in the back of the head by that cold water anymore. Just set the temperature wait a minute and go in!

Fully functional and extremely accessible with the most modern of features. All our friends just love to see it! They can look, but please use the guest bathroom!

We are very pleased with the job done on our 2nd floor and have already asked Mark to quote on our next project - the stairs.
Communication is of prime importance to us and Mark passed with flying colours. We appreciated that he spent a good amount of time with us to understand our requirements and once the job started he kept us informed every step of the way. As minor issues arose (unstable builder-grade doorframes) Mark provided options and solid recommendations to help us make informed decisions.

We worked with Mark on a master bath reno - resealing & extending shower, installing new tile, new shower head, new ceiling fan, installation of vanity, and removal of a privacy wall. We had most of the design work planned out in advance.

The work was completed on a timely basis and in good detail. We're in the process of repairing some small details (nail pops etc. that resulted from regular shifts after painting) and Mark has been very accommodating & willing to fix these small repairs. I Had Mark Nazar and his company the Art of Renovation out to my home to refinish my kitchen cabinets. I have to say that I really enjoyed their professionalism and attention to detail. Mark and his team were reasonably priced and a real pleasure to deal with.

After living with our kitchen for over 20 years, we decided to renovate our kitchen and felt the Fall Home Show would be a great place to meet with contractors. There we met Mark Nazar and decided a follow-up meeting was in order. As a result, he was one of two contractors we invited to our home for further discussion. In the end, we were not disappointed. During our renovation, either he was on site or we were in contact with him. There were days when he said he would be at our home at a certain time. If he was unable to arrive by the set time, we would receive a phone call, letting us know where he was. In all cases, the delays were because he had to stop for materials or supplies for our home. During the course of the renovation, unforeseen events occurred. In all cases, Mark would let us know what was happening and presented us with options. He and his team responded and the project moved forward. Not only were we pleased with Mark’s work, but that of his crew, each a true professional. They were all easy to deal with and always cleaned up at the end of the day.
The only delays in our kitchen renovation resulted from events beyond his control – the installation of the cupboards and countertop. During the entire process, he kept us in the loop and expedited small items such as minor touch-ups to the cupboards.
When the project was complete, there was only one minor issue outstanding. One of the electrical outlets did not fit into the wall properly and, as a result, the electrical outlet cover would not sit flush against the backsplash.
Despite this very small issue, I would recommend Mark Nazar and The Art of Renovation for your home renovation project without any hesitation. He and his team are true professionals.

I am extremely happy with my renovation! I had two structural walls removed, a complete office re-do (from floor to ceiling) as well as new floors, lighting, baseboards and ceilings throughout the office space.
