- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- Be patient during a renovation. It can get hectic and frustrating but in the end you end up with a beautiful kitchen and/or bathroom.
I would like to respond to the above statement: Firstly, the finished project of this kitchen looks great and is exactly what the client had requested. The countertop which the client chose is a solid surface material. The characteristic of this product was explained in detail to our client when she was choosing the type of material to use on her countertop. This product is anti-bacterial, stain resistant, renewable & easy to clean, durable and is water tight with inconspicuous seams. With that stated, of course sharp objects can scratch this surface. With a simple maintenance routine, under the guidelines outlined, this solid surface material will give years of carefree service and satisfaction. Solid surface countertops have physical properties, which do not allow food, dirt, bacteria, or germs to penetrate its surface. Routine cleaning with soap and water and a sponge, or window cleaner and paper towels will remove most dirt and/or stains. To disinfect, occasionally wipe the surface with equal parts of household bleach and water. Always towel dry to remove water spots.
However, for stubborn stains, removable procedures will depend on the finish of the surface. The majority of countertops have a matte or satin finish. For this finish, rub the stain with a scouring cleanser, such as Bar Keeper's Friend®, Ajax®, or Comet®, and a burgundy or green-colored Scotch-Brite® pad with water. Always rub in a circular motion, then rinse and towel dry. Occasionally, rub the entire surface with the Scotch-Brite® pad to maintain the matte or satin finish. These procedures were explained at time of selection and the client was fully aware of this. It is unfortunate that this client is so dissatisfied with our company.
