Asbestos Removal

I had a tiny 8.5" x 11" piece of asbestos wrapped around the hot water heater exhaust vent. This needed to be removed before the water heater could be replaced. I contacted 5 abatement companies I looked up on Homestars. David provided, by far, the best service and advice.
Like someone else said here...I wish other companies/services that we need to deal with (i.e. car repairs, home repairs, WATER HEATER RENTAL COMPANIES, home improvements, etc) were as ethical and easy to work with as David and Amosite.
I recommend David and Amosite to anyone with no hesitation.

Removal of asbestos floor tile and duct paper

Just as I was about to have new hardwood flooring installed I discovered that there was asbestos tile under the old laminate. I was on a tight timeline with floor installers lined up. David at Amosite responded immediately and was able to come out the next day. He educated me about the different kinds of asbestos and what is required by way of remediation. He also took some samples of suspicious plaster and had them sent to a lab on quick turnaround, and advised on some asbestos wrap in the basement. Once we decided what was necessary he had a crew out almost immediately do the work. When I had follow up questions he always responded quickly (including on a Sunday evening) and set my mind at ease. Several months later when I discovered a small additional piece of asbestos he sent one of his crew out the next day to remove it free of charge. Niall was a pleasure to deal with with and gave my basement a final inspection to give me peace of mind. Excellent service, highly recommended.

ASBESTOS IN BASEMENT

I learned from a potential buyer of my home that we have asbestos-lined pipes in the basement, and went into gear very quickly. Called multiple companies and sent photos as requested. Over-the-phone quotes were all over the map. Three companies came out to look the next day.

David was the first. He educated me a LOT. in the end he counselled my handy brother exactly how to do the work for me at a fraction of the cost I would pay any service -- including Amosite, as David candidly told me. He explained what we were looking at in my basement and why our particular situation means we are safe to do the work -- and why companies on the other hand have to approach the same work per stringent gov't regulations that add to the cost. I began actually to worry about David's business model -- how could a guy so candid and generous with his time stay afloat? He took a sample from another suspect area and returned the MOEE lab results overnight (my lucky break, he said, because he happened to be on his way to the lab that day).

Don't know yet if we'll go ahead as David suggests (because my handy brother has been called out of town) If we do, for a fee Amosite will provide the protection equipment and dispose of the asbestos to the proper facility, which is important to me. Apparently, many contractors send it to a regular dump, not the MOEE facilities.

Steep learning curve, made easier by Amosite. I wish I could find this guy cloned in other trades.

Asbestos abatement

Before we began our basement renovation, we needed to remove 9x9 vinyl asbestos tiles. On a referral from friends, we called Amosite. When David arrived to see the basement, he first directed our attention to some asbestos that we didn’t even know was there – wrapped around each of the forced air heat registers in the floor. During his visit, David spent a great deal of time educating us on the nature of asbestos, types of abatement, and of course, proper disposal. With this newfound knowledge, we sought quotes from two additional companies. While all three quotes were within a couple hundred dollars of each other, David’s genuine interest in seeing the job done right really came through, and convinced us that Amosite was the company to go with. When Niall and his crew arrived, they quickly masked off the entire basement, and worked tirelessly to remove all the tiles, and then washed down the floor. The wrap on the heat registers took a little longer, but by the end of the day we had a clean air quality test result and we able to get back into the house and carry on. The ductwork was left exactly as it was found, and the basement floor was spotless and tile-free!! We were extremely happy with the service provided by Amosite, the attention to detail from David, Niall and the crew, and we would happily recommend their services to anyone!

Asbestos duct wrap removal

During our home renovation, we discovered a small portion of a single duct vent was wrapped in asbestos paper. Amosite was one of the companies we called for a quote. Even though this was a small job, David, the owner of Amosite, was professional, patient and informative in explaining the what our options were.

David was highly responsive and made himself available to us for guidance even well into the evening, which we really appreciated given the stress of having to deal with asbestos in our home. He scheduled the abatement for the very next day. His crew, Niall, Zenon and a third person whose name we can't recall (sorry), were punctual, professional, and knowledgeable. They took the time to walk through the procedures before and after the removal and cleaned up the work area nicely. We received the post abatement inspection report within 24 hours as well.

All in all, we were very satisfied with Amosite's services and highly recommend this company.

Asbestos removal from old radiator pipes

We called Amosite during the demolition stage of our basement reno. We had found some asbestos insulated old radiator pipes and we had to get rid of it before demo work could continue. I called Amosite and they were at the house the same day to provide a quote for the work. They cam back two days later and had everything gone in no time. The crew they sent was very professional and were even kind enough to help me when the disposal bin was being removed from my property (with all the demo garbage...not asbestos of course). I would recommend they to any one. Very happy with the work.

Asbestos Removal

We were doing some demo on our client's house in Etobicoke, and our carpenter called us and told us he found Asbestos in the walls.
I called Amosite and he got a guy over THAT AFTERNOON to remove the Asbestos. David is an extremely friendly guy and understood the urgency of the situation.
They removed the duct containing the Asbestos and all was well.

A few days later, while we were demo-ing the ceiling, blown in insulation fell out of the attic. Our drywall guy (who doesn't work for us anymore now) started freaking out and assuming loose Asbestos had just fallen on him. Not only did this freak out our apprentice, but also concerned the homeowner.

I called David back, and he assured me that it's probably not Asbestos, but we should do a sample test for it. I agreed, and he got back to me within 12 hours about the results. No Asbestos!

Being a general contractor, we have seen our fair share of trades. I can honestly say that David is an honest guy trying to make a living educating and helping people. I'm so glad I called him!
